Disability insurance short term:
The first payment of the benefit (or a fixed amount or a percentage of the salary of the participant) is payable after the expiration of the waiting period under the contract and payments are then made weekly as long as the disability lasts, without exceeding the maximum benefit under the contract.
Disability insurance long term:
At the expiration of the disability insurance‘s waiting period, it is usually filled by short-term disability insurance, a benefit is payable monthly. As for short-term disability insurance, duration of benefit payments and the amount payable is determined in the contract. The benefit may be indexed annually.
